Link to netLibrary What are eBooks? eBooks are written works readable on the screen of a PC, PDA (personal digital assistant) or a reader specifically designed for that purpose. The titles may be older public domain titles, out-of-print titles or copyrighted titles that continue to be available in print. A very few have been written expressly for e-book publication. Librare is a collaborative collection development project that brings netLibrary e-books to library users in west central Florida. Thirty-one TBLC libraries participate in this project to share resources and work together to test drive this new development in library services. The project makes over 2,300 electronic books available to library users. Library users can check out e-books on a wide range of topics from Shakespeare to medicine, from computer programming to business and finance. eBooks are full-text electronic versions of published books that "e-borrowers" can search, borrow, read and return over the World Wide Web. To become an e-borrower and check out e-books from Librare you must first create an account on a computer at your local library. Once created, you can use your account to log in from any computer with Internet access. You don't need a special reader or other device to enjoy these e-books. ______________________________________________________________________________     In being a part of the inception of DearReader.com, Sarasota County Public Libraries took an innovative step to bringing a different format of information to our patrons. Join our Online Book Club and receive chapters from best selling books in your daily e-mail. Monday through Friday. Each day, we'll send you a portion of a chapter. After you've read two or three complete chapters from a book, we'll start sending you a new book.  This is a free service to Sarasota County library card holders.
